P248: Very Early Antique English Chess Set
One side natural the other stained, deep patina. Very early form, bishops and pawns very Rowbotham in style Kings 8cms tall
Probably start of 18th century or earlier, slope knights, elongated base stems on kings and pronounced disks on the body of the kings and queens.
Early form lathe turning marks on many of the pieces bases and tops, signs of much use and wear/rubbing as to be expected.
