P259: Rare Antique Indian Pepys Chess Set
Very well turned and carved. One side natural the other stained an attracive green. Note finely carved manes on knights and detailed bases on all pieces. Kings 12.5cms.
The Pepys form name is derived from a similar set that descendants of the diarist Samuel Pepys donated to a museum in the UK. Circa 1800.
