B55: Very decorative and well made 19th century mother of pearl chessboard as centered piece of lacquered gamesbox

On the sides in gilt it says "VIEWS of the RHINE". Finely gold gilded throughout and in excellent condition for its age.

Open 46x41x4cms chessboard squares are 4x4cms. Comes with decorated shakers and dice.

Has L shaped brass hinges and brass lock. Possibly English from the Chinoiserie period.
